About Roger
Roger found his way to the counseling profession later in life, following an extensive media
career. It was his own eye-opening experience in therapy that inspired Roger to become a
therapist. He now combines his extensive education and training with his vast and divergent life experience to help others navigate the challenges they face. Roger understands, based on his own story, that our imperfections, failures, and missteps are not to be feared. They contribute mightily to who and what we become.
Roger uses narrative, depth-based, relational therapy to connect deeply and empathically with
clients. He is warm, sensitive, caring, and accepting in session, with an infectious sense of
humor. And he doesn’t hesitate to kindly and respectfully challenge clients to hold themselves
accountable.
While Roger works effectively with all genders, he’s developed a knack for counseling and
mentoring men using male-specific approaches that confront unhealthy stereotypes of
masculinity. Roger enjoys working with high-performing individuals in business, sports, and the arts. He also has a keen interest in the dynamics of relational units, and specializes in parent-adolescent/adult-child relationships. Additionally, Roger is enthusiastic about the
transformational power of group therapy and as such, designs and facilitates group counseling
cohorts at Skylight.
Roger holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northeastern Illinois
University and is a Certified Trauma Professional.
