About Jiexi
Jiexi believes that meaningful change begins in a relationship where people feel genuinely
seen, heard, and accepted. She views therapy as a space where clients can bring their
authentic selves, make sense of their experiences, and reconnect with the parts of
themselves that may have been overlooked along the way. Jiexi approaches her work with
patience, curiosity, and presence, trusting that each person holds their own values,
perspectives, and capacity for growth. Her role is to offer support and guidance as clients
navigate challenges, explore what matters most to them, and move toward a life that feels
more authentic and aligned.
Jiexi is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Counseling at Northwestern University.
Grounded in Person-Centered values, she prioritizes authenticity, collaboration, and
creating a space where clients feel safe enough to explore difficult emotions and meaningful
questions. She also integrates approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients understand patterns, develop
practical skills, and create changes that reflect their own goals and values.
As an international student who has navigated different cultural contexts, Jiexi is especially
attuned to the ways culture, identity, language, family expectations, and experiences of
belonging shape how individuals understand themselves and relate to others. Her
experiences have shaped her understanding of the complexities of negotiating different
expectations, identities, and definitions of success across cultures. She approaches each
client with cultural humility, openness, and curiosity, recognizing that every person’s
experiences are shaped by their unique personal and cultural contexts.
Jiexi is passionate about working with emerging adults, including college and graduate
students, as they navigate identity development, life transitions, relationships, and
questions of belonging. She also welcomes clients from LGBTQ+ and multicultural
communities who are exploring their identities, relationships, and sense of self. Jiexi offers
counseling in both English and Mandarin and recognizes that language can influence how
we express emotions, make meaning of our experiences, and connect with others. She
hopes to create a space where clients feel empowered to explore their lives in ways that
honor their values, identities, and personal journeys.
