Resilient Minds is a weekly, therapist-facilitated group designed to support adults living with serious mental illnesses, including schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder. This group provides a safe, consistent, and nonjudgmental space for participants to build connection, enhance self-awareness, and strengthen daily functioning through evidence-based and person-centered care. Grounded in principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), parts work, and design thinking, the group empowers participants to identify personal values, cultivate psychological flexibility, and build lives of meaning—even in the presence of ongoing mental health challenges. Through structured activities, group discussion, and creative exploration, participants are encouraged to engage with their unique inner experiences while discovering shared humanity with others in the group. Our model is strengths-based and recovery-oriented. Each group cycle is co-created with participants, drawing from design thinking strategies to ensure the content remains responsive to the needs, goals, and feedback of the group. Parts work will support individuals in understanding internal conflict and fragmentation in a compassionate, integrative way.
● Reduce isolation and promote interpersonal connection● Support identity development beyond diagnostic labels● Increase emotional regulation, self-acceptance, and psychological flexibility● Foster personal agency and hope in the context of chronic mental illness● Create a collaborative community rooted in safety, dignity, and shared growth
The group is facilitated by a mental health professional with experience in serious mental illness, trauma-informed care, and integrative therapeutic approaches. Participants are welcome regardless of current symptom status, provided they can participate in a group setting with minimal external support. A screening process to determine eligibility is a required component of membership.
