About Joslin
Joslin is deeply committed to fostering an authentic and welcoming environment where clients feel at ease exploring their lives. She views the therapeutic process and the relationship between therapist and client as a unique and meaningful connection. She understands the significance of sitting with clients as they share their most intimate experiences, and she approaches this responsibility with great respect. She leads with humility and curiosity, supporting clients every step of the way as their journey of turning pain into purpose unfolds.
Joslin’s diverse personal experiences have shaped her approach, enabling her to build strong, supportive relationships with clients and offer both compassion and humor throughout their therapeutic journey. Her warm and empathetic demeanor, combined with her genuine interest in clients’ experiences, fosters a safe and trusting environment that supports growth and healing. Through open-ended questions and a thoughtful, non-pathologizing approach, she skillfully explores family of origin dynamics, identifying patterns, attachment styles, traumas,
and relational structures that impact clients' mental health.
Joslin aims to support individuals, couples, and families as they navigate various life transitions, including relational stressors, conflict resolution, family dynamics, and developmental stages. She prioritizes using a multicultural and strengths-based approach when working with clients
from a trauma informed and emotion focused lens.
By utilizing an Integrative Systemic Therapy framework, she is able to holistically tailor treatment specifically to the client system. She favors Bowenian theory and Family of Origin work, but is able to incorporate Emotion/Meaning,
Attachment Theory, biobehavioral and organization, among many others
Joslin obtained her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University. There she received her clinical training at the Bette D. Harris Family and Child Clinic at the Family Institute, served as a research assistant for Dr. Erika Lawrence in her Couple and Family Development Lab, and assisted Dr. Alexandra Solomon as a teacher’s assistant for her undergraduate course, Building Loving and Lasting Relationships: Marriage 101. Prior, she received her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Family Studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, as a Bronze Tablet Honoree.
Currently, Joslin is in the process of finishing specialized training in the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy (Level One and Two) and serves on the Illinois Affiliation of Marriage and
Family Therapy conference committee board. She has a passion for positively impacting others and hopes to be able to do so at various levels, however that may look within her professional journey. She has been greatly influenced and shaped by many clinicians that have taken a
mentor role in her own education and because of this desires the opportunity to continue this work and give back.
