Let's face it, men. We have been raised to believe we have to fit squarely inside "the man box."The only emotion we are allowed to express is anger. Well, we are calling BS on that! Skylight’s men's process groups are a place to let it out and connect with other men who are experiencing many of the same issues as you. We are a group of real men who have meaningful conversations that help reveal solutions to the problems we face.
Members have the opportunity to tell their stories, solicit feedback, and articulate their fears, anger, loneliness, shame, guilt, hurt, and sadness about the circumstances and events that have occurred in their lives. A typical session might include discussions about relational conflict, divorce, insecurities, self-concept, masculinity constructs, job and career uncertainty, substance use, loss, aging, family estrangement, and a whole host of topics that provoke stress, heartache, and pain. Primary tenets of Skylight groups are non-judgment/acceptance, respect, transparency, openness, empathy, and commitment.
While Roger works effectively with all genders, he’s developed a knack for counseling and mentoring men using male-specific approaches that confront unhealthy stereotypes of masculinity. Roger enjoys working with high-performing individuals in business, sports, and the arts. Additionally, Roger is enthusiastic about the transformational power of group therapy and as such, designs and facilitates group counseling cohorts at Skylight.Roger holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University and is a Certified Trauma Professional.
