About Kara
At the heart of my work is a deep commitment to helping individuals, couples, adolescents, and families navigate the complexities of relationships and emotional pain. I specialize in creating a safe, compassionate space where you can explore the difficult emotions that often arise from love, loss, and conflict. I believe that true healing begins with understanding and embracing our pain, supported by a secure, empathetic relationship. These corrective emotional experiences can transform past wounds into new purpose and strength.
With a Master’s and PhD from Adler University, as an AAMFT supervisor, and an individual supervisor at Northwestern University, I bring a trauma-informed perspective to every session, using a range of evidence-based therapeutic techniques tailored to your unique needs. Whether you're grappling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship challenges, or the lingering effects of trauma, we will work together to help you reconnect with your inner wisdom and move toward the life and relationships you deserve.
When we suppress grief or unresolved trauma, our bodies often hold onto it—manifesting as mental health struggles, physical tension, or emotional overwhelm. My approach emphasizes the importance of listening to your body and cultivating emotional awareness so you can shift limiting beliefs and heal the pain that may be holding you back.
A significant part of my work involves psychoeducation on how relational stress and trauma affect overall well-being. Together, we’ll explore your relationship with yourself and others through therapeutic modalities such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Somatic Experiencing.
These approaches allow us to gently unpack the layers of your story, identifying the protective parts of you that have kept you safe—and learning to work with them, rather than against them.
Therapy is a journey, and I will meet you exactly where you are, honoring your unique process. "The only way out is through," and it is such a privilege to walk alongside clients as they transform pain into purpose, rediscover their strength, and cultivate a more peaceful, connected life.
