About Karen

Karen Parisian works creatively and flexibly with individuals to meet their unique needs and address emotional issues through verbal counseling and/or art therapy. She believes in the strength and resilience of her clients and the benefits of positive change through self reflection, expression and developing coping strategies. She provides a non- judgmental and safe space to address challenging issues which can create stress, tension and difficulties in life and relationships.

Karen has extensive experience working with adolescents struggling with anxiety, depression, self-injury, eating disorders and trauma.

When utilizing art therapy, Karen allows for thoughts and emotions  to take visual form, giving way for the expression of painful or difficult feelings which may be unaccessible or inhibited by words alone. She works with groups, individuals and couples as they gain understanding and acceptance to move beyond old patterns and seek new alternatives for personal growth.

Karen received her Masters of Arts in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and additionally holds a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors certification. She has been practicing  for 20 years, providing verbal and art therapy to individuals and families.
