About Tara

Choosing a therapist can be an overwhelming experience - how can anyone tell from a bio on a website what it will really be like to open up and work through hard problems with someone? Tara honors her clients' experiences and has a great deal of respect for those willing to step outside of their comfort zones to seek solutions.

Tara comes to her work as a therapist from her first career in the corporate world as a food scientist. The daughter of two engineers, her love of figuring out how things work shows in her systems perspective in the therapeutic setting. She's a science dork who loves to help people feel comfortable in self-exploration and learning.

Tara believes a good therapist is like a mirror, helping clients see themselves in a new or different way that develops insights that leads to change.

Tara earned a masters degree in Couple and Family Therapy at Adler University. Since graduating, she has focused on working with couples including premarital counseling, family transitions, healing from infidelity, and co-parenting. Tara takes an eclectic/customized approach to therapy and enjoys borrowing from Emotionally Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and the Gottman Method.
